To increase the hardness of the rolling mill cylinders, this renowned and worldwide represented manufacturer decided to install a vertical cryogenic chamber.

The challenge of our engineering department consisted in the fact to design a chamber which fulfilled the customer request:
cool the rolls to temperatures far below -100 °C within a limited temperature range and this over the  total length of the cylinders. These rolls have a length of more than 5000 mm, a diameter of more than 600 mm and a weight of more than 6000 kg. The rolls are treated vertically.

The floor of the chamber is foreseen to absorb the eventual impact of a falling cylinder.
Today the unit is operating at full satisfaction of our customer and this within a very narrow temperature range.
